It only works with 32 bit Photoshop products and Gimp (of which I have no experience). I am making what I know about it available for people who might want to make their printers do more than the OEM provides and learn about printer control. This is not intuitive software, the learning curve is steep. If this part of the procedure fails you, this is the easy part. Now, which part of getting this version of Gutenprint "installed" is troubling you? I thought my instructions and images in the PDF were clear but I'll review them again.ġ) Obtain a copy of WinGP wingp_5.2.6.2_PrintAll_ICM.zip from the Google Code site.Ģ) Create a folder in the root of your C drive naming it PhotoGP.ģ) Extract the contents of the zip file to this new folder.Ĥ) Double click to open gpspooler.exe and select the settings tab.ĥ) Select the Install button to set the path environment and then exit out.Ħ) Copy the file photogp.8be from the PhotoGP/plugins/Photoshop folder to your import/export folder of 32bit Photoshop. ![]() Perhaps you could try wutenprint and start a thread on your experience with it. Hope this helps.I did not know that someone else was compiling Gutenprint for Windows. cups-genppdupdate will update the PPD files of the configured printers, see cups-genppdupdate(8) for more details. Bold white foreground lines are packages that are currently installed and not changed and dim white are un-installed ones available but not installed. Gutenprint is a printer driver for high-quality inkjet printing which is under continuous development for many years already and supports hundreds of printers. Note: When the Gutenprint packages get updated, the printers using Gutenprint drivers will stop working until you run cups-genppdupdate as root and restart CUPS. Red background lines are problems/warnings (but only if on something that needs to be installed or you want installed) Green lines are packages to be installed Purple lines are packages to be uninstalled and Cyan lines are packages (on the preview tab) that will be updated (on other tabs there will be a purple/green pair of lines). Use - t to access the menu and don't forget to do a - t U to update the package list (aptitude and apt-get are two separate utilities and each needs to have it's lists updated to keep their idea of what packages are around up to date.) These drivers provide high quality printing for UNIX, Linux, and Macintosh OS X (10.6 and above) systems. I am experimenting with Gutenprint on Windows with. you could acutally load in ANY 8 Channel Printer ink sets like this. ![]() Gutenprint currently supports over 2000 printer models. Its now just a matter of trying out how it work with the ink channel seperation. Here is a capture of the information for that package on my Debian (Wheezy) PC (not a Pi!):Īny line in an aptitude tab beginning with - can be expended by selecting that line (with / arrows) and hitting and -\ lines collapsed in the same way. Gutenprint is a suite of printer drivers that may be used with most common UNIX print spooling systems, including CUPS, lpr, LPRng, or others. If that seems to be the case (the previous paragraph did not solve your problem) try running sudo aptitude - without any arguments aptitude runs as a text-mode application and it can show you the interrelation between packages and if there is a problem it offers an interactive means to fix things. The problem you are experiencing is that the extra package you have requested is later than the ones already installed but apt-get does not know (without running the "update" instruction) that new versions for all the interconnected packages have become available.!įailing that it may be that (temporarily) one or more packages have not been updated on the servers so that there is a mix of updated and un-updated both on the server and you have got a mix of both. The actual printer drivers are in the Gutenprint library. Otherwise, great work supporting an old printer, which I can now operate until I run out of supplies. (2) It did not retain the previous paper size selection, hence had to select 6'x4' paper for every print job. ![]() All printers which worked with Gimp-Print before, work also (and hopefully better) with Gutenprint. Only two small quirks with the printer driver UI : (1) It did not auto-select 6'x4' paper, the only size of paper available. You have just done a: sudo apt-get update first haven't you (things can change on a daily basis) then try the sudo apt-get install cups-driver-gutenprint again. Gutenprint is the successor of Gimp-Print, it was renamed with the change from version 4.x to 5.x. ![]() I would check that you really have an up-to-date list of packages available from the servers that you are using. ![]()
