I see a few people having similar issues, but not sure if they are experiencing them as sever as I. I have 2 external 300GB firewire drives connected to my G4 Powerbook. Ubuntu will create 2 partitions: / and swap, as shown below: 5. Select the 'FREE SPACE' on the 1st drive then select 'automatically partition the free space 4. Select your hard drive, and agree to 'Create a new empty partition table on this device ' 3. The Mac Studio came shipped with the previous version, and the update to 12.4 didn't affect the issue at all. Select 'Manual' as your partition method 2. Both systems are running the latest version of MacOS, 12.4. I am upgrading from an Intel Mac Mini 2018, in which none of these devices were having these issues. The Thunderbolt drive mostly drops out on wake from sleep, and then a few times throughout the day, and nearly always fails directly on directly boot. The USB drives disconnect with higher frequency (1-2 seconds) when plugged through a hub, and a few times per hour while directly plugged in. I have two typical external powered 3.5" USB drives and one Lacie RAID 0 Thunderbolt (through Apples USB-C > Thunderbolt 2 adapter).Īll of my the drives keep disconnecting in such a rapid succession that the system is unusable, just from the amount of notifications. Aside from that, if a volume format is supported in version 5, it is completely interchangeable between Macs running version 5 and version 6. Moved those drives to it, connected to Max 16", via OWC Thunderbolt 3 cable. That being said, as we add additional features, like APFS and RAID 6 volumes to SoftRAID version 6, those volumes will not mount with SoftRAID version 5. SoftRaid sees the drive, but will not mount it.
